you'd think that but at least one CEO has turned being an annoying diva into being the richest man in the world

HN/YC should be called "News Venture Capital Cares About". VC cares about AI, so AI is what you're gonna get

I never have long sessions. I ask claude to do one thing, then I clear the context, validate that change, and iterate it. What are these long sessions?

the US is also a surveillance state except about 80% of the surveillance is private companies (that are closely tied to the state)

the models have gotten very good at doing what you ask. if you ask for changes that will accrue tech debt, you'll get it. if you ask for changes that pay down that debt, you'll get it.

i don't necessarily disagree but others have been jailed for this activity (or like aaron swarz, driven to suicide)

> I always come back to see shit that I have opinions about and need to polish

But isn't this the case with all code?

amigas were way ahead of their time. We had an Amiga 500 and then got a 386 and it was such a downgrade, but the Amiga was clearly a dying system.

Yeah, my cousin had one, was like a computer from a parallel evolution chain, kind of weird, but kind of awesome.

facebook ad targeting is also garbage. They have my entire history since 2004 and they still sometimes: think I'm a woman, think I need things for a newborn, think I'm in the market for "short men clothing" (I'm 6'0"), and so on. Sometimes I get ads for farm equipment (I am a lifelong city dweller).

Now let's be honest: short men clothing is basically modern, "slim fit" clothing; you get that fashionable bare-ankles look with short pants.

And again, who does not want to drive a tractor in their city when they hit the pothole? Or at least to re-plow half of the city just because of the stupid buildings they put in there?

Not sure why, but my ads used to be insanely spot on, now they're meh.

My wife will get ads on Instagram targeting me though.

One day I looked at some retro console, she texted me asking if I was looking at a console, she got like 8 ads for it.

dentists made up the 6 month rule. There's no evidence that it improves outcomes, for most people with healthy teeth, 24 months is fine:

healthy teeth are not the same as healthy gums, or oral health as a whole.

my dentist wants me coming quarterly
